![]() I hope this band keeps touring around, and I hope that I don’t have to travel too far next time I see them. The security guys were watching closely as this happened, but let the band go with it. From my personal favorite, “Emily,” to “Hi, Hey There, Hello,” to “San Francisco” and “Say It Just Say It,” to the intense “Carry Your Will,” which featured the burning of some sage. The Mowgli’s went through all their best songs. There were some dedicated music lovers there that night, which I loved. They started off with their album title track “Waiting For The Dawn.” And as soon as they started, everyone started dancing and the people up front started singing along. All the members of this band (all 8 of them) just look so happy all the time. I know this because a whole bunch of people started chanting the band’s name about 10 minutes before they came on stage. Most of the people got there early to catch opening band, The Mowgli’s. There was a really great vibe going the whole night. So, apart from Nicholas Petricca (lead vocals, keys), Kevin Ray (bass, vocals), Sean Waugaman (drums, vocals), and Eli Maiman (guitar, vocals), there were lots of painted faces that Thursday night in Tulsa.Ĭain’s was about two thirds full, but the energy of the crowd really filled the place. I really dig the face paint that WTM fans have adopted (this practice has its roots in the “Anna Sun” video, as told by the band here). And let’s keep in mind, I’ve been to some great shows/festivals this year. On their way to Austin City Limits, WALK THE MOON made a stop at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa last week, for what turned out to be the best show I’ve attended this year (so far). Nahko and Medicine for the People brought me back to my roots with with “Manifesto II”.Īnd finally, Catfish and the Bottlemen with “Cocoon”. If this doesn’t get something stirring inside of you, I think you should call your doctor. Paul and the Broken Bones with “Call Me”. ![]() I’ll leave you with my three biggest Life is Beautiful surprises. “High Waters” has been on my playlist for the last week. This Scottish band rocks my world each and everyday with “Quiet Little Voices”Īs mentioned, Las Vegas bred Brumby is new discovery to me. I cannot help but get goosebumps any time I hear their music.Īnother band I saw recently who has held a top spot on my playlist as of recent is We Were Promised Jetpacks. If the time comes that I leave Las Vegas, this band will signify my time here. My “new” Repeat One of the moment (which should be no surprise) is “Shut Up and Dance” by WALK THE MOON (who will be gracing Las Vegas in May!!)Īnd while they didn’t play the song when I saw them this week…it is only fitting to honor Imagine Dragons with “Look How Far We’ve Come”. My “classic” Repeat One of the moment is “Calamity Song” by indie folk leaders The Decemberists. It is not quite yet time for the best of 2014 from and I, but that will come in January, I can assure you. I also enjoyed the sweet sounds of one of my Life is Beautiful favorites Priory and revisited my teenage years with Bush. With great joy I witnessed the homecoming of one of Sandy Beats’ favorite bands, Imagine Dragons, as well as a new locally bred favorite Brumby. I think I’ve seen the last two shows of my 2014 (who knows, that may change). But 2015 is upon us, and that means more new music and more shows.Ģ014 has ended out with a bang.
